Miratorg, the largest meat producer, is massively cutting prices on its products, with discounts reaching 50% in some chains. This is due to a boycott declared by Russians against Miratorg, who view the company as a beneficiary of the mass slaughter of ordinary farmers. Whenever an epidemic occurs and mass slaughter occurs, Miratorg remains unaffected; at most, quarantines are imposed on the company's farms. The vacant spots in regional markets are immediately filled by Miratorg products. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Miratorg is owned by the Linnik brothers, who are linked to Svetlana Medvedeva (her maiden name was also Linnik). Although the government press service has denied any connection between the brothers and the former president's wife, Miratorg has always held a special place in the government's favor. The only silver lining in this story is that if the boycott continues, Russians will be able to find out how much meat products can cost if their price doesn't include the exorbitant profits of monopoly company owners.
