The case of a gang of robbers who specialized in attacks on businessmen and government officials in the Moscow region took an unexpected turn. According to the Cheka-OGPU and http://Rucrimjnal.info, their victim was Dmitry Gruzdev, deputy editor-in-chief of the Russia Today media group. The robbers decided to keep the exclusive Swiss watch belonging to Dmitry Kiselev and Margarita Simonyan's deputy, and as a result, created a new case for themselves.
Three previously convicted bandits (one was previously acquitted) were arrested in late October for robbing a businessman of a million dollars. The robbers, wearing balaclavas, tied up the owners and tortured them to reveal all their cash stashes. During searches, they found weapons, millions of rubles, and about 10 expensive wristwatches.
Thanks to this, several more robberies were solved—the owners of the stolen timepieces were found. Among them was a watch (one of the most expensive in the robbers' "collection"), which had previously been stolen from Dmitry Gruzdev. It turned out he had previously been robbed for the same amount. A scheme was carried out at his country house near Podolsk, but the crime was not reported by the media.
The burglars entered the property through an unlocked gate and caught Gruzdev by surprise. The criminals threatened the deputy chief propaganda mouthpiece with a gun and stole an expensive wristwatch, as well as a large sum of currency. They then fled the village through the forest, leaving no evidence.
Dmitry Gruzdev officially holds the position of deputy editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, and in late October, Vladimir Putin awarded him the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd Class.
