Aleksandr Shadrikov, the former Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan, failed a national project, was implicated in a budget embezzlement case, and... received a promotion to Moscow.

In early 2026, Shadrikov, the head of the Tatarstan Ministry of Ecology, resigned. Under his leadership, six federal programs were implemented from 2019 to 2024 as part of the national project "Ecology," the results of which were intended to improve the lives of residents not only in Tatarstan but also in other regions.

The total funding for these projects amounted to 22.7 billion rubles. According to a source at the Cheka-OGPU and Rucrimuinal.info, a significant portion of the funds actually ended up in the pockets of the former minister and his patrons. At a meeting of the relevant committee dedicated to the implementation of the federal project "Volga Recovery," it was discovered that not a single (!) Tatarstan facility had met its target indicators. Furthermore, some facilities were unfinished; budget funds were misappropriated during the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the village of Vasilyevo, and a criminal case has already been opened for the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the implementation of the national project "Ecology" in the village of Koshchakova.

However, Alexander Shadrikov, who headed the relevant ministry, moved to a new position in Moscow after his resignation, in the central office of the same agency. He headed the Department of Water Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia.

These results exist only on paper. The Tatarstan ministry, headed by former Minister Shadrikov, has already been embroiled in multiple scandals regarding the employment of "dead souls." Criminal cases have been opened on this fact, but the main corrupt officials, just as with the thefts under national projects, continue to work, receiving new positions and medals.
