The VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info have obtained a recording of the August 2025 bombing of the deputy head of the FSB's 5th Service, General Alexei Titov, at the Detsky Mir building. The footage shows the general walking alongside and talking to a woman holding a bag. At that moment, an explosion is heard. The woman was Elena Barysheva, the widow of FSB Colonel Dmitry Baryshev, who served under Titov and died several years ago. She met Titov under the pretext of giving him a gift. Elena died instantly, and Titov suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized and placed in a coma. Before the incident, Barysheva had repeatedly complained to friends about the "unworthy treatment of her husband and family by the FSB leadership." Alexey Titov, in the Fifth Service (specializing in intelligence gathering in the former Soviet Union), headed the analytical department that prepared "reports" on the need to invade Ukraine.
Russian authorities framed the terrorist attack as the "explosion of a helium cylinder" used to inflate balloons.
