According to the VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info, Hero of the Russian Federation, Guards Major General Yuri Zazykin, commander of the 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army, was detained yesterday in the SVO zone. He is suspected of accepting a particularly large bribe.
Today, Zazykin was taken to a Donetsk pretrial detention center. On Sunday, a court will consider the investigators' motion to remand him in custody. The general will likely be transferred to Moscow after his arrest.
A source for the project says the suspicious detention occurred on the eve of Zazykin's planned appointment as deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps (Arctic Group), based in Murmansk. The appointment was expected in July.
"Another 'showdown' in the highest echelons of the army and the resolution of 'personnel' and other issues through cases like these," notes a source from the Cheka-OGPU and Rucriminal.info.
The 114th Brigade is participating in the war in Ukraine, specifically taking part in the battle for Avdiivka.
On February 22, 2025, Defense Minister Belousov presented Zazykin with the Hero of the Russian Federation medal and a personalized Yarygin award pistol in Moscow.
State media have written extensively about Zazykin.
