Umar Kremlev, President of the International Boxing Association, along with his security detail, assaulted Anatoly Sulyanov—founder of the Hardcore promotion—and his wife right in Red Square. According to the victim, Kremlev punched him in the face and struck his wife several times. The incident took place in a crowded area, with Kremlev hurling insults and threats at the couple. Sulyanov has already filed a police report and requested that surveillance footage from Red Square be secured. We suspect there may be complications with this; Kremlev is a junior partner of Alexei Rubezhnoy, the head of the Presidential Security Service. Recently, Kremlev has been positioning himself as the key lobbyist for Russia’s return to the international sports arena.
