A court in the Moscow region has ordered Wildberries employee Imomali Turdiev to be jailed for two months. He killed 18-year-old Elektrostal resident Ilya Polezhaev. Yesterday, a funeral for Ilya took place, and the marketplace owners and authorities were so fearful of the incident that they drove a police van right to the church.
At the hearing, Turdiev's lawyer and relatives, a native of Tajikistan, requested house arrest. They insisted that Imomali acted in self-defense, was a Russian citizen, had a permanent residence, and had a permanent job as a sorter at a Wildberries warehouse. However, the first point was refuted, including by witness testimony and even by Turdiev's friend.
On that fateful day, four young men from the Moscow region were riding on a bus. Although they all hold nationalist views (one of them was beaten so badly by newcomers as a child that he still stutters), the conflict had no nationalist motive. When the bus stopped and the doors opened, the boys saw their friend standing at the bus stop and stuck their tongues out at her, making obscene gestures. The girl herself confirmed that their interaction, although inappropriate, was playful. The video clearly shows that their actions did not concern the bus passengers and were directed at the open door. Suddenly, Turdiev decided to confront the boys and invited them outside. He did this deliberately; many of his colleagues from the Wildberries warehouse are usually in the area around the bus stop. As previously reported by VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info, these are mostly newcomers (including illegal immigrants), many with criminal records.
However, this time, no colleagues were at the bus stop. A fight did not break out. The boys suggested that Turdiev confront one of them one-on-one. However, the two sides merely exchanged heated words and then parted ways. A friend of Turdiev's, a native of Dagestan, also testified to this in his testimony (as quoted by Turdiev himself). Imomali then ran to a rented apartment for help, where he also grabbed a knife. For about 30 minutes, Turdiev, a relative, and a native of Dagestan searched for the attackers and found them at another bus stop. Turdiev and his friends immediately attacked the young men, who used pepper spray and a flare pistol.
When the young men attempted to board the approaching bus, Imomali ran up behind 18-year-old Ilya Polezhaev and stabbed him in the neck. He then stabbed him several more times. Ilya died of blood loss on the bus.
Yesterday, a funeral service for Polezhaev was held in Elektrostal at the Church of Andrei Rublev (he was later buried at the New Cemetery), and many local residents attended. A police van was stationed near the church. Those gathered said that the "valuable employees" of the Wildberries warehouse were making life difficult for residents of Elektrostal. They constantly roam the neighborhood in crowds, behaving aggressively and committing crimes. Police had previously conducted preventative raids, but after Wildberries came under the control of Suleiman Kerimov, the raids ceased. Apparently for the same reason, the police van was parked not at the Wildberries warehouse, but at the church where local residents were saying their final goodbyes to Ilya.
